How the Roma Pass works
Bought in the city's shop, activated in the app, two parts with two clocks. The rules in short.

Buy and load into the app
You buy the pass here through GetYourGuide or in the city's online shop and redeem it in the Roma Pass app with the booking code from your confirmation. The app holds two QR codes, one for museums and one for transport, which needs an internet connection. - 2
Book the Colosseum slot online
The pass replaces the ticket, not the time slot. Book your Colosseum entry on the official ticketing site up to a month ahead, ten to twenty days is the issuer's advice. Arena and underground are excluded. The Borghese Gallery also needs a reservation with a small fee. - 3
Two clocks, no refund
The museum part starts with the first museum scan and runs for three or four days, the transport part with the first ride for exactly 48 or 72 hours. An unused pass expires six months after purchase. There is no withdrawal and no refund, not even for closures.
Weighing it up
What speaks against the Roma Pass, and who it is for
Against it: only one or two museums are free, the rest are reduced, and the Vatican Museums with the Sistine Chapel are not part of the pass at all. The Colosseum slot still has to be booked online by you, and if no slot is left for your days, you lose the most important entry. There is no hop-on hop-off bus, no refund of any kind, and a single adult rate: for children and teenagers the pass rarely pays, since they enter the state museums free and children under 10 ride free.
For whom: adults who will use the metro and buses over two or three days, want the Colosseum or the Borghese Gallery covered without paying the full single price, and can plan the Colosseum slot in advance. The pass is first of all a transport ticket with a museum bonus, and at that it is the cheapest pass in Rome.

Is the Vatican included in the Roma Pass?+
No. The Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel are not in the Roma Pass circuit. For the Vatican you need the single ticket with a time slot or a pass that includes it, such as the OMNIA Card or the Essentials Pass.
Does the pass cover the airport?+
Ciampino yes, by the bus lines included in the ATAC network. Fiumicino no: the Leonardo Express and the FL1 regional train are excluded from the pass. Details on the public transport page.
Do I still need to book the Colosseum?+
Yes. With the Roma Pass you book a free time slot on the official Colosseum ticketing site, up to a month ahead. Without a booked slot there is no entry, pass or not. Arena floor and underground are not covered.
